  • Den underjordiske klippekonsert, the oldest documented Norwegian halling, published by Johann Mattheson in 1740 after “reliable witnesses” who told him that the tune was played by subterrestrial fairies in a mountain near Bergen in 1695. (You might actually find some recording on youtube)
  • Halling etter Amalie Hasvoldseter, a traditional langeleik tune from Vardal near Gjøvik, Norway.
  • Napoleons telbakemarsj (Napoleon’s Retreat March), old langeleik tune from Valdres, Norway. The age of the title can at least be guessed due to the person named in it. About 1815, then?
  • Gammel reinlender frå Vingelen, Østerdalen: Old reinlender from Vingelen in Østerdalen in Norway, originally a willow pipe tune which Tone Hulbækmo transferred to the Norwegian folk harp, and played at the NHM 2008 in Lund. It is in Lydian mode, which sounds a little bit odd to modern ears, therefore Tone calls it “På snei”.
